The first edition of this wide-spanning and excellent genre biopic, which I purchased at Walden Books as a 14-year-old in 1975, was published by Prentice-Hall. I think it had a Chesley Bonestell cover of a rocket. (I lost my original first edition in the Hershey Flood of 2011.)

The third edition by McFarland retains a lot of the sense of wonder I felt as a teenager, including a wondrous introduction by Isaac Asimov.
