CASTLE is a horror anthology that expands and encapsulates some forms of revenge:

“Another Day” by Liz Holliday. One victim of domestic violence keeps coming back to relive her ending, like Phil in the film, “Groundhog Day.” Can she find a way to end the violent recurrences and live victoriously?

“Severed Cape” by Melanie Schubert. This Wonder Woman-like caped crusader goes after perpetrators of childhood violence to exact a special kind of vengeance.

“I Hope the Night is Quiet” by Claire Low. East Arcadia is a pork town. And, in this tale, pork rules residents’ diet. So, of course there has to be a pork demon, out and about, with its own style of evil.

“I’ll Never Understand Ghosts” by Dotti Enderle. This tale of robbers of corpses leaves revenge in the hands of the incorporeal spirits.

“The Monster in the Mine” by Jeremiah Dylan Cook. A boy’s brother returns as a spirit from the dead to warn him to kill a monster in the “Gates of Hell,” the entrance to a mine. Nobody believes him until he faces off with the monster. But does he kill the right monster?

“Small Retributions” by Michael Joseph Tharnish Roby. A fae is captured by a farm owner who wants to use the life of the fairy being to bring his young daughter back to life. But the fae has access to powers that can overcome almost anything the farmer throws at it.

“The Terrors of the Grave” by Charles R. Rutledge. One man made the deal for eternity to save himself from certain death and his loved one from disaster at the hands of one seeking vengeance. He returns to reclaim his long-lost wife who seeks a new life away from a violent marriage.

“The Clowning” by Heath W. Shelby. A very Bradburian carny, the Chilcott Family Circus, makes its way to the county fairgrounds, seeking vengeance for a daughter’s assault and miscarriage. These clowns are very dangerous in their retribution.

“Justified” by Bryon Young. A boy is out to avenge the wrongful death of his father at the hands of a serial-killer policeman. Vengeance is not very satisfying sometimes.
